Every PickPorch article starts with one question: what does a reader actually need this product to do? This page explains how we find the answer, how we choose what to include, and what we leave out.
1. We start with the need, not the product
We choose topics people really search for, such as “frying pans for glass top stoves” or “shoe racks for small entryways”. Each article covers one clear need, so the picks inside it can be compared fairly.
2. We research each product
For every product we look at:
- the maker’s own description and specifications, such as size, material, capacity and what is in the box;
- what verified buyers report about daily use, including common complaints;
- how the product fits the need in the article title, for example whether a pan suits an induction cooktop or a rack fits a narrow space.
This is desk research. We do not claim to have tested every product ourselves, and we never write fake first-hand stories or invent ratings.
3. We compare on features that matter
Products are compared on the same points within an article: size, materials, ease of cleaning or setup, versatility and any limits you should know before buying. If a product has a clear weakness, we say so.
4. We keep the list short
A long list is not more helpful. We include only the products we think fit the topic, and each one gets a reason to be there, so you can see who it suits and who should look elsewhere.
5. What we leave out
- Medical, supplement and pet food products. We do not give advice in these areas.
- Safety-critical items, where a wrong choice could cause harm and a buying guide is not the right source.
- Prices. They change often, so we do not print them. Check the current price on the store page.
- Products we cannot find enough reliable information about.
6. How money and independence work
PickPorch earns a commission when you buy through some of our links, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Brands cannot pay to be included or to change what we write. Read more on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
7. We update and correct
Products change, go out of stock or get replaced. We review our articles and update them when something important changes. If you spot an error, please tell us, and we will fix it as soon as we can.
