Your privacy matters to us. PickPorch is a simple reading site, and we collect as little information as possible. This page explains what that means in practice.
What we do not do
- We do not show ads.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels or advertising cookies.
- We do not have comments, user accounts or a newsletter.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
Information we may receive
Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical data when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it only to keep the site working and secure.
Messages you send us. If you email us through the contact page, we receive your email address and the message you write. We use it only to reply, and we do not add you to any list.
Search. If you use the site search, your search words are used to show results. We do not build profiles from them.
Cookies
PickPorch does not set cookies for tracking or advertising. WordPress, the software that runs the site, may set a cookie for people who log in to manage the site. Regular visitors do not need one.
Affiliate links and third-party sites
Some links on PickPorch lead to other websites, mainly Amazon.com. When you click one, you leave our site and that website’s own privacy policy and cookies apply. We do not control them, so please read the policy of any site you visit. Amazon and its partners may use cookies to record that a purchase came from our link. Search engines
We may use tools from search engines, such as Bing Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console, to check how our pages appear in search. They show us summary data about searches and pages. They do not tell us who you are.
Security
We keep the site updated and use a secure connection (HTTPS). No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the little data we have.
Children
PickPorch is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to ask us to delete it. Because we collect so little, this is usually only an email you sent us. To make a request, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site works, for example by adding analytics, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
